Solicitor General Shirley Bond has submissions for eight competing sites as potential locations for the prison, including areas on Penticton and Osoyoos Indian band land.
“My team is currently evaluating the proposals,” Bond says. “I could have a recommendation provided to me before the middle of June.”

Bond says analyzing the competing sites will take a number of things into consideration including: the site location and size; its proximity to courthouses, the availability of utilities; zoning; environmental conditions; and community support.
